What is Project Management : As the name suggests this is used to manage your projects. Through this you can easily manage your projects in an efficient manner. Project management involves the planning and organization of a company’s resources to move a specific task, event, or duty towards completion.
Project Management in Odoo : The Odoo project management module gives an efficient solution for sorting out a task and monitors advancements. Project management is defined as the initiation, planning, steering, control and completion of a project. The project is managed by the project manager, who represents the project to the client and leads the project team.
For project development we have to collect many documents and sample data from the customers and this information is very important for the customer’s business. So in that case this is our duty that this data should be secure from the unauthorized user. To fulfill this requirement odoo provides us the privacy rule feature in the Project management module. With this feature you can set privacy rules on particular projects so that only assigned users can access that data only. You can set the privacy rules according to your requirements.
In this blog we will talk about the privacy rules in Odoo V15 project management Module.
Odoo Project Management Module provides visibility into three category such as :
- Invited Internal Users
- All Internal Users
- Invited Portal Users and all Internal Users.
If you want to see visibility click on the Project module and open a new project from the configuration tab. For reference you can see the screenshot below.
From the above screenshot you can see the list of all the projects which are created with the details such as project name, customer name, company name, start date, end date, project manager and status.
You can create a new project with the help of the create button. Let’s click on the create project and a new window will appear. For reference you can see the screenshot below.
You can see the various fields in the creation such as.
Title : Here you have to mention the name of the project.
Name of the tasks : In this field you have to mention the name of the project tasks.
Tags : In this section you can mention tags such as Bug, new features, experiment, usability, internal, external etc.
Project Manager : In this field you have to mention the name of the project manager.
Planned Date : In this section you have to mention the start date and end date of the project.
Company : Here you have to mention the name of the company.
Description : In this field you can add the additional details about the project.
After filling all the details in the respective field click on the settings tab. You can see the various fields in this tab. For reference you can see the screenshot below.
Now you can see the visibility option under the settings tab. You can see that visibility is categorized into three categories. Let’s have a look at how these options operate in the Project module to prevent unwanted access.
- Invited Employees : When you select the “Invited Employees” option from the visibility box, then Odoo only allows the invited users to access the particular project. Employees who are followers of this project and its tasks will be able to access the project.
- All Employees : When you select the “All Employees” option from the visibility box then Odoo allows all the users to access the project. With this option any employee can view and edit the project if they are followers of the project or not. All employees will have unrestricted access to the project.
- Invited Portal Users and All Employees : When you select the “Invites Portal users and All Employees” option from the visibility tab then Odoo allows invited users and all employees to access the project.
You can complete the remaining fields in the Project creation window after selecting the required Visibility option under the Settings tab.
