Odoo 12 POS Barcode Nomenclature
Barcodes are an easy way to improve your inventory management function; they improve the accuracy of your inventory records, allow for real-time updates and, crucially, make the data entry process as simple as possible. Barcodes are used for a variety of reasons including tracking products, prices, and stock levels for centralized recording in a computer software system. The key benefit of using barcodes within a small business (or, in fact, any business) is time savings.
>> Barcodes are both cost-effective and reliable.
>>Using a barcode system reduces employee training time.
>>Barcodes provide asset & security tracking, theft deterrence, peace of mind, and a demonstrable reduction in loss/liability
>>Barcodes are inexpensive to design and print.
>>Barcodes provide an indispensable tool for tracking a variety of data, from pricing to inventory.
Now Let’s See the difference between EAN-13 and UPC-A Barcodes:
The EAN contains a 13 digit number and the UPC contains a 12 digit number. UPC-A Barcodes are effectively a subset of EAN-13 Barcodes. If the first digit on the EAN-13 number is a ‘0’, then the bars will be of both the EAN-13 and the UPC-A (without the leading ‘0’) will be identical.
he UPC-A barcode was the original format for product barcodes. As demand in Europe, Asia, and Australia started growing, country codes were added.
Barcode Nomenclature in Odoo:
Odoo supports Barcode Nomenclatures. This module adds support for barcode scanning and parsing. The barcodes are interpreted using the rules defined by a nomenclature. It is implemented for three applications as of POS, and for stock in events.
First, you can install the Point of Sale module in your database. At that time you can set barcode nomenclature in the PoS module.
You can set barcode nomenclature from the module. Go to Point Of Sale -> and select your PoS interface. Under the IoT Box / Hardware category, you will find Barcode Scanner and tick on this checkbox then click on save button.
Barcode nomenclatures are the rules that are used to create a barcode. Now you can choose Conversion type according to your need.
Firstly, you have to click on Add a line button. Now create a rule and fill the following details like Rule Name, Sequence, type, encoding, Barcode Pattern. You should specify the rule name. At that time you can specify the type of the barcode nomenclature. You can set the Weighted Product as the type. Barcode pattern represents the structure of barcode. The user can design the pattern. EAN-13 represents the ending of the barcode.
In Odoo, usage of the barcode is in the following areas:
For Inventory:
Now you can set the barcode scanner in the inventory module. If we use the barcode in inventory is of great help. The operations which are used to manage stock in the warehouse can be simplified and can be made faster with the help of barcodes.
Go to Inventory -> configuration -> settings -> operations -> Barcode Scanner
The interface of the barcode module is given below. Now you can scan the operation barcode to the barcode module. Whereas you scan an operation type, the module will ask for scanning the source location.
It further proceeds to scan the products, in case if the product has a package, it scans its a barcode.
One can increase the count of the product via scanning the product barcode again.
Now we have scanned the barcode of the internal transfer. You can scan the barcode of WH/IN/00002. Now you can validate that transfer.
For Point of sale:
If you scan at a product in Point of Sale(PoS)., the product will add to the list for billing. Whenever you activate debug mode, a debug window will display on the POS interface. at that time, you can manually enter the barcode.
For Event:
This module adds support for barcodes scanning to the event management system.
First, you have to create an Event then fill all the following details. When a person registers for an event, an email with a barcode will be sent. This barcode will use at the entrance as the ticket(entry pass) for the event. Now click on the Barcode Interface button.
It is the way in which the tickets are scanned through barcodes. Wedding is just an example of the event created.
