Master Production Scheduling has emerged as a crucial element of Odoo Manufacturing. This is mainly because it assists the businesses in actively planning their future activities while considering the demand.

MPS basically helps in reporting the operations that are performed after analyzing upcoming trends. The system allows the organizations to efficiently handle their activities while overseeing production based on the market demands.

Advantages of MPS

There are numerous benefits of equipping your business with a Master Production Scheduling. It can become a valuable addition to the manufacturing units. Some other pros of having an MPS include:

  • Improves Productivity

How to Add a Product?

As it is self-explanatory, you will be using the ‘Add a Product’ tab for this. After clicking on it, you will see a pop-up window on your screen. You will have to enter the name of the product you wish to add.

You can also select it from the pre-existing list. Once you have completed either of these steps, you can start by working on setting a Safety Stock Target. Now you just have to save these new additions and start working on regular operations.

In case you accidentally add a wrong product, you also have the option of removing it. For this, you just have to press on a small bin that is present on the right side of the product’s name.

Replenishing Products

Another striking feature of Master Production Scheduling is that you can adjust the settings to plan automatic replenishments. It utilizes the data and figures recorded by ERP tools to work on this process. Having MPS features makes the process significantly easier.

You can start this process by selecting the recommended replenishment. It is placed close to the Replenishment tab. This will help you in restocking based on different products. You can also select the Replenish button on the page top to stock up on all recommendations.

Cell Colors

Cells are an essential part of the Replenishing process. However, the different colours can confuse the user. There are four main cell colours:

  • Green
  • Grey
  • Orange
  • Red
MPS color

However, Red colour Cells in Forecasted Stock means that the stock shall remain negative for the provided time period.

Underestimating/Overestimating the Demand

By using MPS, you can increase or decrease the forecast for demand based on the requirements. The cell will turn orange in underestimation, showing that the overall replenishment quantity is affected. Now you just have to launch a new order.

While in overestimation, the cell will automatically turn red, stating that the order placed is for products more than your requirement. Moreover, users can also make manual cancellations for the MO or RFQs.
