The import and export feature has always been one of the standard functions in Odoo. This results in numerous possible applications for us for various use cases.
The reporting and analysis system of Odoo ERP is often keen about the info and data it gathers from the client. Odoo systematically stores and processes the info of a business to provide an accurate output. Within the case of the implementation of Odoo new to a company, we want to import all the past data into Odoo.
In Odoo, the user can import any kind of data in different formats. By default, Odoo imports data on any business using Excel (.xlsx) or CSV (.csv) formats. The user can easily import details like contacts, products, bank statements, journal entries, and sale orders to Odoo in any of the formats. Odoo provides import in almost all the models. By using this we can import data from the XL file and CSV file.
IN this blog we will explain to you how import and export features help us in Odoo and how we use both features.
How to Export Data : Let’s begin with “EXPORT”, to export a set of data into Odoo, you just need to select the respective data file in .csv or .xlsx format and upload it.
Steps : Go to the Sales Module > Orders > Action > Export. For reference you can see the screenshot below.
When you click on the export button you can see the form will popup, for reference you can see the screenshot below.
Now we shall add new data to the exported files.
So the exported file will be like this and we will add new data there.
How to Import Data : for this go to the Sales Module and see the dashboard. For reference you can see the screenshot below.
Then, go to the favorites options, you will be seeing the “Import records” option. For reference you can see the screenshot below.
We can load the Excel file or CSV file to import the data in Odoo.
Then click on the “Upload File” button to upload the file.
Through this process you can import and export data in Odoo.
